The current national energy landscape is very much, well, male-dominated. We can do better, and what better time than now.

The Women in Clean Energy (WICE) program, an initiative of NCSEA, offers women the opportunity to excel in North Carolina’s clean energy industry by fostering support, camaraderie and education. In less than two years, WICE has grown its network to over 400 women and created a mentorship program with participants across the country. Our goal is to increase the gender diversity within the clean energy sector and to ensure equal opportunity for all who want cleaner air and a thriving economy.   

I can certainly attest in my energy industry experience thus far that the ratio of women at conferences, stakeholder convenings and other events is almost always well short of proportional to the general population. The traction that the WICE program has gained in its early stages is nothing short of impressive and we are hoping this campaign will take the program to the next level and help spearhead real change in the industry.
