It has been a real privilege to work in clean tech with all of you over the last two decades. I've learned so much, and among those learnings has been the observation that our industry, despite laudable goals and objectives, has some major issues with gender equity and representation.

To meet our clean energy goals in North Carolina and beyond, we're going to need A LOT of people on board. Specifically, we need to actively make room for new voices. Whether you're new to our industry or a veteran, I am sure you've seen, time and again, that diverse backgrounds in your work team leads to broader perspectives and therefore the best results.

To fulfill the vision of a clean energy economy that's representative of society at large, NCSEA members have been supporting professional growth and development opportunities through programs like Women in Clean Energy. Since the program's inception, nearly 600 women have walked through the doors looking for opportunities to network and grow. Now, that program's mission grows even larger today with the renewal of it's mentorship program - designed to connect seasoned cleantech professionals with those who are new to the industry to help illuminate a path towards continual growth and development.

But to ensure the program's success, we need your help.

That's why today, I'm asking my connections to help support the mentorship program through a small financial contribution. Your support can help ensure the next young professional who has an idea that might alter the course of energy in our state and country can succeed and bring that idea to life.

The WICE Initiative consists of over 600 individuals and has plans to increase its impact and reach through the relaunch of its Mentorship Program. The Mentorship Program is free and directly supports the WICE Initiative’s mission to connect women in clean energy and amplify their voices.
