Formed in 1968, CRC is one of 16 regional councils in NC established by the General Assembly to meet the region's needs on a wide range of governance issues. CRC serves a 9-county area including Anson, Cabarrus, Gaston, Lincoln, Iredell, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly, and Union. CRC assists local governments in coordinating for sound regional development and provides a forum to address issues best handled through regional cooperation, planning and action. CRC also provides technical assistance services to local government members and other organizations in the areas of: regional planning, transportation, energy and environment, local government assistance and land use matters.
